Mrs. Grimshaw has been the Canajoharie Superintendent of Schools since December 2011. Prior to coming to Canajoharie she worked for seven years in the Onondaga Central School District, where she served in several roles including assistant superintendent, director of curriculum and instruction and special education director and a building principal. She has also worked Onondaga-Cortland-Madison BOCES, as the coordinator of the Special Education Training Resource Center (SETRC), and at Cayuga Community College, as the director of its Fulton campus. She began her career in education at Oswego County BOCES serving as a special education teacher and SETRC coordinator.

Grimshaw is a graduate of Penn State, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in special education. She earned a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from the State University of New York at Oswego, where she also earned her school district administration certification.

GleasonRebecca Gleason - Canajoharie High School Principal

Ms. Gleason was appointed the principal at Canajoharie High School in July 2015. Gleason worked for 12 years in the Niskayuna Central School District including six years as the assistant high school principal and six years as a high school English teacher. Prior to coming to Canajoharie she was an elementary principal in Albany.

A Cohoes native, Gleason attended Elmira College where she earned a bachelor’s degree in English literature. She also earned a master’s degree in reading from the College of St. Rose.

RauchMark Rauch - Canajoharie Middle School Principal

Mr. Rauch was appointed the principal at Canajoharie Middle School in August 2015. Mr. Rauch came to Canajoharie from the Auburn Enlarged School District, where he served as the junior high school assistant principal. Prior to entering school administration, he was a math teacher and varsity soccer coach for 10 years in the Solvay Union Free School District. He has also taught at the Cato-Meridian and Rochester school systems.

Mr. Rauch attended Keuka College where he earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education/special education, with a concentration in math. He received a master’s degree in adolescent education from SUNY at Cortland and earned his school building and school district administrative certification from Le Moyne College.

Stacy Ward - East Hill Elementary Principal

Ms. Ward has been the principal at the East Hill Elementary since July 2011. Prior to coming to Canajoharie, she served for four years as the coordinator of instructional services at Hamilton-Fulton-Montgomery BOCES, where she worked closely with school district administrators and teachers providing professional development and facilitating school improvement initiatives. During her career, she’s taught kindergarten, first and second grade at the Brighter Choice Charter Schools in Albany and fifth grade in the Baltimore City Schools. Ms. Ward began her career working in statewide programming for the New York State Historical Association in Cooperstown.

A native of West Hartford, Connecticut, Ms. Ward earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame and a master’s degrees from SUNY Oneonta and SUNY Albany. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D in curriculum and instruction at SUNY Albany.

SchwabrowJennifer Schwabrow - Director of Special Education and Instructional Services

Mrs. Schwabrow is the director of special education for both Canajoharie and the neighboring Fort Plain Central School District. Before she was appointed the shared special education director for both districts during the summer of 2015, she was a Canajoharie special education teacher for nine years and a teacher in Sharon Springs for three years.

Mrs. Schwabrow earned her bachelor’s degree in K-12 special education from SUNY Geneseo and a master’s degree in literacy from SUNY Albany. She earned her administrator’s certification from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

DunnBrian Dunn - Athletic Director

Mr. Dunn has been the district athletic director, a position which Canajoharie shares with the nearby Mayfield Central School District, since September 2014. Mr. Dunn has experience teaching both elementary and secondary physical education and has coached basketball at the high school and college levels. For two years prior to coming to Canajoharie, Mr. Dunn worked in the business field as a sales manager for Eversan, a Whitesboro-based athletic scoreboard manufacturer.

Mr. Dunn is a graduate of Ball State University, where he earned a bachelor’s in physical education. He earned a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Olivet Nazarene University.

Gary May - Director of Facilities

Mr. May has nearly 15 years of experience working in Canajoharie schools and has been the district’s director of facilities since July 2010. He also previously served as the district’s director of facilities between 1992 and 1997. He began his career in Canajoharie schools working as a custodian at the former West Hill School in 1986. He has also worked as an assistant head custodian and head custodian in the Fort Plain Central School District.

Mr. May is a Canajoharie High School alumnus having graduated with the Class of 1977.

SchafferLeah Schaffer - Director of Finance and Accounting

Mrs. Schaffer has been the director of finance and accounting since November 2009. Before starting work at the Canajoharie Central School District, Mrs. Schaffer worked for WEST & Company CPAs PC for three and a half years.

Mrs. Schaffer is a Canajoharie alumna and was a member of the class of 2002, which was the first class to graduate from the new Canajoharie High School at 136 Scholastic Way. She earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Siena College and obtained her Certified Public Accountant's license in 2009.

WalkerHarold Walker - Transportation Director

Mr. Walker has been the transportation director for Canajoharie schools since November 2008. Prior to coming to the Canajoharie district, he worked for Brown Bus Service directing transportation for the Greater Amsterdam School District for seven years. Before entering the school transportation field, Mr. Walker managed the former Springer’s Equipment in St. Johnsville for six years and was a dairy farmer for 18 years in Canajoharie, Deposit and his native Hancock. Mr. Walker is a past board member of the boards of education in Canajoharie, where he served for 15 years, and HFM BOCES, where he served for six years.

Mr. Walker is a graduate of Houghton College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in science.
