The boys basketball game on Wednesday, Jan. 18, between Canajoharie and Fort Plain generated about $450 for cancer. Of that, $225 will go toward the Kathleen “K.C.” Smith Congdon Scholarship Fund, $100 will go to the Andy Palmer Scholarship, and $100 will go to a local family.
The game came on the heels of an event on Jan. 6 where the Canajoharie varsity swimming team raised about $1,100. The basketball game featured a donations bucket and 50/50 raffle.
"The place was absolutely packed and the donations were incredible," said organizer and Spanish teacher Linda Klock. "People were putting 20 dollar bills in the bucket. We're happy with the response we received."
