On Dec. 16, don't forget to tune your radio to WGY-AM between 8-10 a.m., to hear a few selections by the Canajoharie High School Handbell Choir. The group plans to perform "O Come All Ye Faithful," and about two other classical tunes. Choir director Leo Milman said the 15 students in the choir represent the "best musicians in the music department" and are selected based on overall musical acheivement.
"They always look forward to the opportunity to be on the radio. It's an honor and a great motivation," he said.
"It's a motivation for me too. I'm not just accountable to the Canajoharie audience, but the audience of the entire Capital Region."
The choir - founded by Board of Education president John DeValve - features students from grades 9-12. The choir's performance on the radio has become a tradition in the district.
