Modified football team finishes undefeated season

The Canajoharie modified football team finished its season with a perfect 6-0 record this year.Modified football The team took a perfect record into its final game against an unbeaten Fonda team and scored 22 second half points to win 22-6.

The team allowed  its opponents to score only 19 total points for the season. The boys scored 208 total points for the year.

“We had a small team with just six eighth graders and 12 seventh graders, but they really meshed together as a team and motivated each other to get better” said coach Chad Bowerman. “As the season progressed we faced better and better teams, but the boys remained focused. They listened in practice and carried over what they learned to games. Each player had a specific role and at one point or another this season, each and every one of the boys made a significant contribution to the team’s success."

The modified football team was coached by Bowerman, with Nathan Fowler and Chris Fox acting as assisstants.

The scores of the team's games were as follows:

  • 56-7 vs. Watervliet (class C school)

  • 33-0 vs. Cohoes (class B school)

  • 42-0 vs. Schalmont (class B school)

  • 30-0 vs. Cobleskill-Richmond (class B school)

  • 25-6 vs. Albany-Academy (class B school)

  • 22-6 vs. Fonda (class C school)
