Canajoharie students put culinary skills to the test during parfait competition

Canajoharie High School students enrolled in Mrs. Mauranda Comley's Food and Nutrition class class recently challenged each other's culinary skills during the annual Fruit Parfait Competition.

The competition coincided with their study of fruit in relation to MyPlate, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's nutrition guide.

The winners of the competition this year were "Rasta Parfait," prepared by Caleb Root, Madison Koelbl, Shania Crouse and Brandon Wolfkiel and the "Pretty and Perfect Parfait," prepared by Dalton Rush, Emily Mayer and Kylee Rickard.

The parfaits were judged based on creativity, presentation and taste. Teachers volunteered to be judges.
