Trevor Folts signs letter of intent with Alfred University

Group of men, one seated, four standing, smile at the cameraCanajoharie Central School senior Trevor Folts Jr. signed a national letter of intent in April to play for the AU Saxons football team during the fall 2017 semester at Alfred University.

The Division III football team at Alfred University was 10-0 in regular season play in 2016, ending the year with a 12-1 record after falling to Mount Union in the national quarterfinals.

“I’m really excited to be going into such a strong program,” Folts said of the Saxons.

Folts was named to the Section II Class D All-Star first team in 2015 and 2016, and was named a fall athletic All Star in 2016. Folts received an honorable mention in the New York State Sportswriters Association’s 2016 small school All-State selections for Class D.

At 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, Folts was described as an “explosive” athlete on the basketball court and football field by Adam Shinder of the Recorder News. Folts also joined the Canajoharie varsity baseball team as a senior.

As a junior, Folts was inducted into the Canajoharie High School chapter of the National Honor Society and has consistently been named to the honor roll. Folts has also been involved Students Against Destructive Decisions, the Athletic Association, the History Club and the NADA (No Attraction to Drugs and Alcohol) organization. He has served as Class Secretary his sophomore, junior and senior years.
