Swimming
& Diving team recognizes Superintendent Rose
In its first home meet of the swimming season,
the Canajorharie/Fort Plain Swimming & Diving team took a moment
to thank Superintendent Richard Rose for his efforts to
refurbish the Nellis Pool.
The pool was unavailable for the 2008-09 swim
season as workers undertook the monumental task of renovating
the 50-year old facility. High humidity had rusted the
structural steel, making the building unsafe. Workers literally
raised the roof, replaced and repaired crumbling walls,
installed a new dehumidification system, upgraded lighting, and
made the locker rooms handicap-accessible. The project was a key
part of the EXCEL project approved by voters in 2007.
Mr. Horender and the team presented Mr. Rose a
plaque in appreciation for the support he has demonstrated for
the swimming program.
