Canajoharie PTA Minutes—December 13, 2005
-
Greetings
-
Co-President, Bronwyn McCaffrey, called the
meeting to order at 7 pm with eleven members in attendance.
The pledge was recited.
-
Secretary’s Report
-
The secretary’s report was read and accepted.
-
Treasurer’s Report
-
The updated Treasurer’s report was reviewed
and accepted.
-
Old Business
-
Enrichment Committee: The next meeting
for this committee is February 14, 2006. Ellen is waiting for
information from Mrs. Wolgemuth to give her the $150 balance
of enrichment funds approved for her.
-
Membership: Tara reported she now has 100% teacher participation and 173
members. Tara has membership information entered into the database at the
school. Tracy will contact Melissa to get e-mail address of current members for
PTA meeting reminders. A suggestion was given to develop PTA welcome packets for
new students. The packets will include the school calendar, magnets, PTA forms
and contact information. Tara will work on getting ten packets together to have
on hand.

Box Tops: Mrs. Monk reported she is
continuing to receive box tops. The first payment due in mid
December has not yet been received. Reminder letters for this
program were sent to families in October, November and
December.

Pictures: This topic was tabled until the
January meeting.

PTA Minutes: The PTA minutes are not yet able
to be viewed on the school website. Tracy will e-mail Kyle to
let him know of the problem.

New Business
-
Movie Night: The next movie night is scheduled
for December 16th with “Herbie Fully Loaded” as the scheduled
movie to be shown. The movie will be raffled off that night.
Jackie will contact Price Chopper for the cookies. There are
still cups, napkins and juice available from the previous movie
night. PTA cookbooks will be available for purchase on the movie
night. The tentative dates for the next movie nights are January
27, 2006 and March 3, 2006. Mrs. Monk suggested taking out an ad
in the local newspaper at the end of the year to thank local
businesses for their donations and support throughout the year.

Local Fundraiser: Bronwyn discussed the
possibility of a fundraiser through the local business Kid
Stuff. The tentative date is December 23, 2005, with 10% of all
sales between 8 am and 7pm going to the PTA. Mrs. Nyahay will
first need to obtain the Superintendent’s approval to go ahead
with this fundraiser.

PARP: This committee met at 6:30 pm on December
13th. The scheduled dates for this program are March 13th
through March 24th using the train theme. Tara will talk with
the teachers to determine the suggested reading time for the
different age levels. There will be different activities for
each day of the week including special projects for the
weekends. There was a suggestion for a teacher survey at the end
of this program. The PARP committee is scheduled to meet at 6:30
pm on January 10, 2006.

Miscellaneous
-
It was decided to order the teacher’s planners
early through Amsterdam Print to save 10% on the cost. Ellen
will send a check to Amsterdam Print.

Brownwyn read the thank you letter from Mr.
Morrissey for the enrichment funds approved for a student to
attend a Youth Leadership Program.
-
An update on the $1,000 books program through
the Literary Society was given and the program should be up
and running in mid January. The Literary Society is scheduled
to meet on December 27, 2005 at the Canajoharie Library.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:35 pm. The next
meeting is scheduled for January 10, 2006 at 7 pm.
