Canajoharie PTA Minutes—April 11, 2006
- Greetings
- Co-President, Melissa Balk, called the meeting to order at 7
pm with eleven members in attendance. The pledge was recited.
- Secretary’s Report
- The secretary’s report was read and accepted.
- Treasurer’s Report
- The updated Treasurer’s report was reviewed with updates and
accepted.
- Fundraiser Speaker: Paul Forsey from C&H Fundraising presented
his fundraising opportunities to the group. C&H Fundraising
handled the last PTA fundraiser in 2002 with a profit of $18,500.
Paul handles all aspects of the fundraising from helping put
together catalogs through the delivery of the items to the school.
Paul gave a brief overview of his business and the sequence of
events for a successful fundraising event. Pay Beyer suggested
showing samples from the catalogs at the Open House. A committee
will need to be organized for this event.
- Old Business
- Sister to Sister Update: Melissa reviewed a request that was
approved for $85 for this program, which will be sending nine
girls to a conference at FMCC.
- SADD Prom Money Vote: A motion was given to give the SADD
committee $1,000 from the Student Health Fund to support the
post-prom party. The motion was accepted.
- Movie Night Update: The last movie night was held on March 24
in the Great Room with “Chicken Little” being shown. The movie
night was a great success with more than 95 students and parents
in attendance. Melissa recognized Jackie for the great job she had
done organizing the movie nights throughout the year. Tara will
get the popcorn needed for next year’s movie nights through the
Little League.
- PARP Update: Melissa recognized Tara for her hard work on this
program. The program was very successful and will be scheduled
again for next year.
- New Business
- Power Point for Kindergarten Registration: Melissa put
together a power point presentation to be continuously run on a
television at the Kindergarten registration. The presentation
gives an overview of what the PTA does and contact information. It
was suggested that membership forms be available to parents at the
registration. Any memberships received at that time will be held
until the start of the 2006-2007 school year.
- Teacher Appreciation Day: Teacher Appreciation Day is May 9th.
Tara will take care of getting the calendars to the teacher’s.
Melissa will order the bagels and Tia will deliver them to the
school.
- Enrichment Committee: The enrichment committee met April 11th
at 6:30pm. There were four requests approved for a total of
$359.95. There was $440 returned for the Young Writer’s conference
that was not attended. Melissa will give Ellen the check to be
voided. Jan will review any previously declined requests and
report them to the committee members.
- Fundraising Committee: A discussion was had regarding who to
use for help with the fall PTA fundraiser. It was decided to use
C&H Fundraising and the fundraiser will take place in September. A
committee needed to be organized for the fundraiser scheduled for
fall. The committee members are Melissa, Bronwyn, Jan, Jackie,
Tara and Tracy. The committee will meet after the April 11th PTA
meeting to start planning for the fundraiser.
- Other Items:
- Mrs. Nyahay had a request for $715 from the special projects
account for t-shirts for the Kindergarten. The $715 would be used
to get 65 shirts @ $11.00 each. The request was approved.
- Melissa gave a reminder for the May 8th Regional PTA meeting
to be held at Canajoharie School. Bronwyn and Tia are scheduled to
attend.
- The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 pm. The next meeting is
scheduled for May 9, 2006 at 7 pm.
