- Treasurer’s Report
- The updated Treasurer’s report was reviewed with updates and
accepted.
- Old Business
- September Fundraiser: Melissa met with Paul Forsey from C&H
Fundraising. The PTA fundraiser is scheduled to run from September
13th thru September 27th. Paul will make a presentation to the
students on the September 13th kick off day of the fundraiser. The
fundraising committee needs to meet before the start of the
fundraiser. Melissa will get the delivery date of the fundraiser
expected to be in late October. Volunteers will be needed for that
day to unload and pass out all the items.
- Teacher Appreciation Day: Melissa thanked Tia for picking up
the bagels for the teacher’s and thanked the PTA for their support
for the teachers.
- Box Tops: Mrs. Monk reported she had received the last check
of the year for $320.90 for the last box tops sent in. Box tops
will continue to be collected through the end of the school year.
- Kindergarten Registration Packets: Melissa thanked Tara for
putting together an informational brochure on the PTA that was
available at the Kindergarten registration. The brochures will be
used at future school events to provide information regarding the
PTA.
- Regional PTA Meeting: Bronwyn and Tia attended the Regional
PTA meeting held at Canajoharie school on May 8th. Bronwyn had a
mailing registration form that needed to be completed and sent to
the Regional Directory. Tracy will complete this form and submit
it by June 15th. Bronwyn also had a PARP survey to be completed
which will be done by Tara. The summer Regional PTA conference
will be held in Utica on August 11th thru August 13th.
- New Business
- Funds for Shipping Katrina Books: The School Library System
received over 50,000 new books to be donated to libraries in
Louisiana. The cost to ship the books is $2,100. Melissa
received a request for donations from PTA’s to help cover the
cost of the shipping. After a brief discussion it was decided
$100 would be taken from the special projects fund. If the SLS
receives funding for the shipping costs in the future they will
return the donation.
- NJHS Induction: The National Junior Honor Society induction
is scheduled for May 17th. Two volunteers are needed to serve
cookies and punch at the induction ceremony. Pat Beyer and Tracy
Mead volunteered to assist.
- Other Items:
- Mrs. Nyahay had a request from Mrs. Kornas for
$100 for bike helmets from Walmart. The request was approved
and will be taken from the Health Fund. There was another
request for mulch needed for the playground. Mrs. Nyahay will
get the cost for this and have it for next months meeting. The
cost for this will also be taken from the Health Fund.
- The Scholastic book fair is scheduled to run from
October 2nd thru October 6th. The delivery date for the books
will be September 27th. Tracy will e-mail Lisa Stevens at
Scholastic to let her know we will be participating in the
PARP program next year so the school can receive discounted
books for this program. Volunteers will be needed to operate
the book fair during school hours and the night of Open House.
- Picture days are scheduled for October 2nd thru
October 4th in the gathering room with Lifetouch. Volunteers
should not be needed for this day and Tia will be available to
assist the photographer.
- A discussion was had regarding the High School
participation in the upcoming fundraiser. The High School will
not be participating in the fundraiser but the PTA will be
requesting assistance for PTA functions from the High School
programs who received PTA funds throughout the year. It was
suggested to raise the question at the next regional PTA
meeting of how other schools involve the High School in the
PTA.
- Mrs. Dopp discussed the possibility of utilizing
the school database and a folder system to reduce the amount
of paper wasted by sending multiple copies of flyers home to
families with more than one child in school. Mrs. Dopp will
meet with Mrs. Nyahay to discuss possibilities of solutions
for this problem and will report to the PTA at the next
meeting.
- Mrs. Monk reminded the members of Mrs. Davidson
who has been a member of the PTA for her school career.
Melissa will find out if there are specific awards to be
given. Mr. Strait will also be retiring and it was decided to
acknowledge him for his support to the PTA. These two topics
will be discussed at the next meeting.
- The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 pm. The next meeting is
scheduled for June 13, 2006 at 7 pm.
