Canajoharie PTA Minutes—August 8, 2006

1. Greetings
   1. Co-President, Melissa Balk, called the meeting to order at 7 pm with eight members in attendance. The pledge was recited.
2. Secretary’s Report
   1. The Secretary’s report was read and accepted.
3. Treasurer’s Report
   1. The Treasurer’s report was reviewed with updates and accepted.
4. Old Business
   1. September Fundraiser: The PTA fundraiser is scheduled to run from September 13th thru September 27th. Paul Forsey will be at the school on the 13th for the kick off of the fundraiser.
   2. Calendar Updates: The upcoming events for the PTA were reviewed. The school pictures are scheduled for October 2nd thru October 4th. Melissa will contact Tia to discuss any updates with Lifetouch. The PTA will be sponsoring movie nights scheduled for October 2nd, November 17th and December 15th. Jackie will be the chairperson for the movie nights again this year. The movie nights will be held in the Great Room.
   3. Scholastic Book Fair: The Scholastic book fair is scheduled for October 2nd thru October 5th in the Great Room. The books will be delivered on September 27th. Volunteers will be needed to set up the book fair and to operate the book fair during the week and the night of open house. Tracy will be the chairperson for the book fair. Tracy will contact Scholastic to check on using profits from the book fair to purchase books for the PARP program.
5. New Business
   1. Open House: The Middle School open house is scheduled for September 27th and the Elementary open house is scheduled for October 5th. Volunteers will be needed for the PTA table. The PTA will not have a table at the High School open house.
   2. Other Items: Bronwyn had a few items to review from the regional meeting she attended.
      1. The minutes and treasurer’s reports should be kept in a safe place and not thrown away.
      2. She also noted any motions made during the meetings should be repeated by the secretary and the names of the members who made the motions should be noted.
      3. Should the secretary not be able to attend a meeting a temporary secretary should be put into place for that meeting.
6. The meeting was adjourned at 7:35 pm. The next meeting is scheduled for September 12th at 7 pm.
