Canajoharie PTA Minutes—March 13, 2007
- Greetings
- President, Melissa Balk, called the meeting to order at 7:00
pm with nine members in attendance. The pledge was recited.
- Secretary’s Report
- Secretary, Tracy Mead, read the secretary’s report from the
last meeting. Mary Monk made a motion to accept the minutes with
Scott Tyler seconding the motion. All were in favor.
- Treasurer’s Report
- Treasurer, Ellen Welch, reviewed the treasurer’s report with
updates. Mary Monk made a motion to accept the report with Scott
Tyler seconding the motion. All were in favor.
- Correspondence
- Thank you’s were received from Mrs. Eggleston, Mrs.
Kolodzeij and the High School band for the PTA support they
received.
- Old Business
- Purchase of Television for Middle School: Melissa reported
the television for the middle school had been purchased and
should be installed in the next few weeks.
- NYS Consumer Protection Board: The presentation from the NYS
Consumer Protection Board on identity theft is scheduled for
April 18, 2007 at 7:00 pm in the Middle School Great Room. There
will be information regarding this presentation on the school
website as well as information sent home to families.
- Virtual Lobby Day: March is PTA advocacy month and March 22,
2007 is PTA advocacy day. Melissa shared flyers with information
regarding the 2007-2008 NYS Education budget.
- New Business:
- Lifetouch: Melissa reported she had spoke with Belinda at
Lifetouch and it was decided a survey would be sent home with
families during the fall school pictures in regards to interest
in spring pictures. Lifetouch will take the responsibility of
gathering the surveys and reporting the results.
- PARP: Tara Mason, PARP chairperson, reported she had all her
activities planned and approved by Mrs. Nyhahay. There will be a
movie night on March 23rd as part of the program. Tara will
contact Patty VanHusen to confirm the use of the room for that
night. Melissa thanked Tara for all her hard work on the
continued success of this program.
- C&H Fundraiser: Melissa reported to the PTA that C&H
Fundraising in conjunction with Staples have a program that
offers families the opportunity to order the school supplies
they need and have them on the first day of school. Mrs. Heiser
has the information on this program and will be offering this to
the middle school. Principal Bowden noted that the school had
received numerous backpacks with school supplies and lunch bags
donated during the flood last year. After some discussion it was
decided to send information about obtaining the bookbags home
with families with the last report cards of the year. A
tentative date of Friday, August 24th, was set for PTA
representatives to be at the school to give the bookbags, school
supplies and lunch bags to families who would be interested.
- Kindergarten Registration: Kindergarten registration is
scheduled for April 25th, 26th and 27th. Melissa will be setting
up the display for the PTA for those dates.
- The meeting was adjourned at 7:25 pm. The next meeting is
scheduled for April 3rd at 7pm and the Enrichment Committee is
scheduled to meet the same night at 6:00pm.
