Canajoharie PTA Minutes—June 12, 2007
- Greetings
- President, Melissa Balk, called the meeting to order at 7:00
pm with eight members in attendance. The pledge was recited.
- Secretary’s Report
- Secretary, Tracy Mead, read the secretary’s report from the
last meeting. Mary Monk made a motion to accept the minutes with
Ellen Welch seconding the motion. All were in favor.
- Treasurer’s Report
- Treasurer, Ellen Welch, reviewed the treasurer’s report with
updates. Chris Hopler made a motion to accept the report with
Jan Andrews seconding the motion. All were in favor. Ellen will
report on the audit scheduled for June 13th at the August
meeting.
- Correspondence
- Thank you’s were received from the Post Prom
Committee for the PTA support they received and several thank
you’s from teacher’s for teacher appreciation day.
- Old Business
- Regional PTA Meeting Update: The regional PTA meeting was
held May 23rd at Canajoharie High School with many topics
discussed. The High School will be participating in the
reflections program this year. “I Can Make A Difference” is the
theme. Bronwyn will contact Tammy Jones to get her information
on the program. The Summer Experience will be held at Utica
College on July 28, 29 & 30. Anyone interested in attending
should contact Melissa by June 20th.
- New Business:
- Inductions: The new officers were officially named as Mary
Monk, President, Chris Hopler, Vic-President, Ellen Welch,
Treasurer, Tracy Mead, Secretary. Melissa thanked everyone for
their hard work and for volunteering their time.
- August Bookbag Giveaway: The August book bag giveaway was
cancelled. Anyone interested in getting school supplies from
Target should contact Joanne Heiser.
- Other Items:
- The Canajoharie PTA received a Community Involvement
Commendation for enrolling at least 10 members who are not
parents or teachers.
- There was discussion regarding the need for school supplies
for students being available at the school. Women’s Clubs in the
community often contribute supplies to the school. This topic
will be discussed at the August meeting.
- There were two requests for PTA funds. There was a request
for $135 for the Fifth Grade breakfast and a request for $25 for
replacement bows for a student’s glasses. Melissa made a motion
to approve the requests with Mary Monk seconding the motion. All
were in favor.
- Melissa will e-mail Bronwyn the current membership list.
- The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 pm. There will be an
organizational meeting for officers on August 14th at 7 pm.
