What's new?

Search the Web and earn money for our school

The Canajoharie PTA is now participating in a program that earns our school money every time you search the Web. "Search and Give" actually pays the PTA each time a supporter searches the Internet using Microsoft's Live Search engine. Simply visit www.searchandgive.com and click "Sign In." Sign up for a Windows Live™ ID and select our school on the My Charity Settings page. Then start searching the Internet using www.searchandgive.com.

For more information read our PDF informational flyer.

Box Tops for Education

General Mills pays Canajoharie Central Schools 10 cents for box tops from a wide variety of its products under its "Box Tops for Education" program. All you need to do is to clip the box top from cereals (like Cheerios and Total) or baking mixes (like Pillsbury and Betty Crocker) or even storage and trash supplies (like Hefty and ZipLoc). Click here to download a complete list of 200 eligible products (in pdf format).

Stop and think how many dimes you might be throwing away every day—dimes that help pay for books, supplies and special programs for our students. Just clip those box tops and send them to school with your child or grandchild. Don't have a child in school? Just send the box tops to Mary Monk, Canajoharie Esst Hill School, 25 School District Rd., Canajoharie, NY 13317

Researchers repeated report that exposing children to books at young age makes children better readers. But, what do you do if you do not have easy access to books?

The PTA and the Palatine Literary Society have teamed together to help address that problem by creating the "1000 Books Program." The program is an ambitious effort to enable every child in the Canajoharie School District to read 1000 books by the time he or she enters kindergarten. (full story)

PTA Membership Drive In Full Swing

Right now is the perfect time to join the Canajoharie Parent Teacher Association.  A dedicated core of active volunteers made a big difference in the learning experiences of our students in the 2007-2008 school year. Last year the membership included 100% of the K-12 teaching staff and more than 120 parents but meeting attendance ranged from 7 to 15 participants. Look what these active members accomplished!

Your PTA has:

  1. Collected and submitted Box Tops For Education which provided hundreds of dollars in free supplies for the school.

  2. Served refreshments at Open Houses in the Elementary and Middle Schools and Honor Society Inductions.

  3. Operated a profitable Book Fair to raise funds for other school projects.

  4. Purchased benches for the playgrounds.

  5. Provided funding for a middle school author visit, Patrice Kindl.

  6. Purchased software for the middle school art program.

  7. Sponsored gifts for Teacher Appreciation Week.

  8. Provided money for special needs of the school nurse.

Membership is just $5.  Your time and support are needed today.  Please join our PTA and take the time to attend a meeting or help with an event.  Your support makes Canajoharie a better place to learn.
