First graders become characters in their own storybooks

First graders in Ms. Linda Peters class were recently interviewed by fifth graders from Mr. Joan Kolodziej's class. The fifth graders collected information about the likes and dislikes of their first grade friends.

The fifth graders took the information and worked it into a fictional story either starring the first grader as the main character or using the child's name and developing it into another character. The fifth graders added artwork to the book and added another page telling about the author's background. Each cover featured a photograph of the pair.

When the books were completed the fifth graders brought the books to the first grade classroom and read them to their new friends. The first graders will be able to take their book home once they have had time to share them in their classroom.
