A
little bit of Broadway!
Members of Mrs. Parry's 5th grade class took on
a sizable project as they tackled their own original production
"Just off the Coast of Australia." Working with student teacher
Miss Murphy, the group wrote the script, designed and built the
sets, created and sewed the costumes, and finally performed the
play before fellow students in the Great Room.
 The
play centers on a band of archeologists who board a ship, the
S.S. Explorer to travel to a South Seas island in search of
buried treasure. In their midst is an archeologist bent on
revenge.
 While
the rest of the party is asleep, she steals the treasure map and
replaces it with a forgery. With help from the Spirits of the
Island, the archeologists' dog alertly switches the maps back.
The traitor steals the ship leaving the group stranded on the
island.
 But,
the false map proves her undoing as she grounds the ship on the
reef. The dog faithfully comes to her rescue.
The
archeologists resourcefully build a raft and sail to safety.

One year later and much wealthier, they return
to the island with their betrayer now in the role of their
servant.

"Just of the Coast of Australia" included Hanna
Wilday, Nicholas Taylor, Evangeline Wilcox, Bailery Pitonza,
Ashley Andres, Benjamin Kane, Kendal Robins, Joshua Kost,
Katherine Rockwell, Ryan Blair, Chelsea Diamond, Noelle Bunker,
and Kayla Bowerman.
