The first half of the twentieth century witnessed the outbreak of many new styles and movements in art and architecture.

 

 

At the end of WWII and the introduction of Abstract Expressionism, leadership in international art began to be shared by American artists.

 

 

Art and architecture are so pluralistic today that it is difficult to identify a leading or dominant direction.
