The seventh grade students at Canajoharie Middle School recently took part in a day of activities at the historic The Van Alstyne Homestead in Canajoharie as part of a unit on the Revolutionary War. The day included food, music, dancing, and a presentation about what it was like to live in the late 1700s. (full story)
During his holiday break, Phillip Leverett, a sixth grade student at Canajoharie Middle School, likes to read as much as he can. This year, his sister gave him a few books, including Around the World in 80 Days. Phillip liked it so much, it inspired him to create a float in the recent sixth grade book float in late January. Sixth grader Samantha Field took first place at a Canajoharie Middle School spelling bee Wednesday night, followed by eighth grader Saymia Pinder in second place, and sixth grader Madeline Elliot in third. More than 40 students in grades 6-8 participated. The final word in the competition: “luxurious.” (full story)
In late November, the Canajoharie Middle School Drama Club presented its rendition of the the L. Frank Baum classic, "The Wizard of Oz," at East Hill Elementary School. Students (who practiced since the beginning of October) and staff came together and acted as stage designers, student painters, stage crew, sound crew, lighting crew, and of course, actors.
