The Canajoharie Middle School celebrated its
2005 moving up ceremony on Thursday, June 23. The ceremony
began as middle school principal Rod Strait welcomed parents
and friends. A steady stream of speakers followed. Student
Council president Riley Smith and National Junior Honor
Society president Sonni Pank reminded their classmates of
where they had been in their first years of school and urged
them to greater things in the future. District Superintendent
Richard Rose advised the soon-to-be ninth graders to set goals
in high school and to pursue those goals with purpose.
High School principal Dr. Donald Bowden reminded students that
people are not the same and that each person has his or her
own talents.
Teachers and school staff presented a long
list of awards for academic performance and school
participation. Receiving top honors for overall high average
were sixth grader Jennie Trahan, seventh graders Payton
