Why I Am Proud To Be An American

By: Shauna Sebastian

I am proud to be an American because we celebrate the Fourth of July. Also because we have freedom. Being an American is a very proud feeling.

I am proud to be an American because we celebrate the Fourth of July. On this day in 1776 we gained independence from England. Also it is a day where we celebrate with our family's, watch fireworks, have parties and go camping.

Another reason that I am proud to be an American is because we have freedom. Other countries looked up to us when we first gained freedom and some still do today. Then they started to come to Ellis Island. When they got here they had to take immigration tests to see if they could be a true American. If they passed the immigration test they could become true Americans.

These are a couple of reasons why I am proud to be an American. Being an American is something that I am very proud of. This is something that you should be very proud of also.

Why I am Proud to be an American

Anyone can say they are proud to be an American, but when you ask them why, they don't know what to say. Well I do. I love freedom of speech! While in some countries you get thrown in jail for saying you don't like one of their rules, in America everyone has a right to their own opinion.

Imagine a country where 50 states are all working together, but aren't forced, they're just one peaceful place. Wait a second that's not imaginary that's the United States of America. People were, are, and always will be proud of America. I know I am proud of many things, like all of our troops and our laws.

One thing I'm really proud of is our government. Even though our presidents have a lot of power they don't rule everything. America is a democracy. We all have our own rights and opinions to everything. I love that the people in our government are elected by the citizens and not just by rulers.

While some countries just watch as wars go on between nations, America steps in and tries to help out or even make a compromise. I have even heard the U.S. referred to as the "peace maker." I am proud to know that I can sit at home and not be worried about what's going on outside.

America is beautiful, unique, and special in many ways. 1 can truly say I am proud to be an American.
