A letter from Canajoharie’s new principal Nicholas Bottino

Dear Canajoharie families and community,

It is with tremendous enthusiasm that I write this letter to introduce myself as the new principal of Canajoharie High School. I grew up on Long Island, and during the summer, my family would vacation in Claverack, NY. It is here that I fell in love with the beauty of the Capital Region as well as the close-knit communities and sense of family that permeate the region.

I am bringing 17 years of educational experience with me. I am passionate about the importance of education and its role in opening doors for people to achieve their dreams. My family is full of teachers: my dad was a teacher in the Bronx, and three out of my four siblings are teachers. I was a math and history teacher in Queens for 14 years before moving to the Capital Region, where I was an assistant principal in Schenectady for the last three years.

I am incredibly excited to begin and get to know everyone. The most important thing you need to know about me is that I am here to support you. I know that Canajoharie is a fantastic place with a strong sense of community as well as a history of academic excellence. I am eager to work with our staff to help all of our students realize their full potential. My door is always open to all, and I know that when we work together, we can accomplish anything.

I am truly honored to be a part of the Canajoharie family, and I look forward to a fantastic school year!

Sincerely,

Nicholas Bottino
Principal
