Canajoharie student musicians perform with Philadelphia Orchestra member

Philadelphia Orchestra cellist Bob Cafaro visited Canajoharie March 13 performing for and speaking with elementary and middle school students about music, his career path and education.

During his visit, Mr. Cafaro also performed with student cellists from Canajoharie’s orchestra program. Mr. Cafaro is a 32-year veteran of the Philadelphia Orchestra, which holds a summer residency at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center each year. Organized by East Hill music teacher Mrs. Susan Crua, each year SPAC performers and educators visit Canajoharie through the center’s Classical Kids Program.

Students this summer will also be able to see the orchestra perform a score from the movie “E.T.” thanks to free tickets provided by the Classical Kids Program for all Canajoharie fifth and sixth graders.

Each year the program also provides free SPAC lawn passes to see orchestra and ballet performances for Canajoharie middle and high school students.
