Betts had to submit a video audition and was chosen to perform in the top ESYO ensemble, the Symphony Orchestra.
Betts got a chance to perform with the orchestra on April 3 at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall. The event featured Elgar’s Cello Concerto, and Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet Suite No. 2 and the artist received a sustained standing ovation for an amazing concert.
Betts was invited to the podium with the conductor and was asked about her instrument’s (tuba) roll in the orchestra and her solo at the end of the 5th movement. He then had her perform the solo for the audience to hear.
Betts spoke eloquently and performed beautifully at the concert. Everyone at the Canajoharie Central School District congratulates Cecelia Betts on her accomplishment.
