Dear Canajoharie CSD Community,
I wanted to send out a letter to give a quick update on the pandemic as we head into the spring season.
As we all know it has been a tough twelve months dealing with COVID-19. It has changed our entire world and we are still feeling the effects of the pandemic. I truly understand how mentally exhausted everyone is with restrictions, changes, and just not having some normalcy in our lives. On the other hand, we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with spring coming up and the vaccine rollout. I just wanted to remind everyone of a few things as we move forward.
If you are on school grounds you are expected to wear a mask and practice social distancing guidelines. As more people are getting out and using our facilities, I am seeing people loosen up on the protocols. I ask again, that everyone stay vigilant and follow the guidelines of wearing a mask and keeping your distance. Also, as I ride around the community, I am seeing people with masks off and gathering in large groups, I ask that we stay the course for a little longer, and as soon as everyone can get vaccinated we can quickly see changes in the right direction. As you all know if we have cases brought into the school we have to quarantine a number of students and sometimes faculty and staff, not to mention possibly close schools. Most importantly, we do not want anyone to get sick or spread the virus to other people.
Again, I understand that we are all tired and want to move on. Please follow the guidelines a little while longer so we can continue with athletics, concerts, prom, graduations and award ceremonies. If we go in the opposite direction at this point some of these things could go on pause or taken away. I know we do not want that to happen!
I wish everyone a great Easter and spring break. Be safe and stay the course!
Sincerely,
Dr. Nick Fitzgerald
