On Tuesday, May 20, 2025 voters in the Canajoharie Central School District will vote on the 2025-26 school budget.

Allow the district to expend $14M for a Carbon Reduction/Geothermal Project at the EH/MS Complex. Project has zero net effect on reserves and taxpayer.Equipment Reserve Usage
Allow the district to purchase facilities equipment, technology and classroom furniture through the previously established Equipment Reserve fund for a cost not to exceed $170,000.Establishment of Equipment Reserve
Allow the district to reestablish an equipment reserve fund for facilities equipment, technology, vehicles and classroom equipment for a cost not to exceed $500,000.Bus Lease Proposition

Total budget: $25,405,843
Increase from 2023-24: 0.48%
Tax levy increase: 2.57%
Highlights:
This budget included a spending increase of 0.48% with a 2.57% tax levy increase. The district has never exceeded the allowable tax cap since the state put the law into place. Over the past four years, the Canajoharie Central School District has averaged a 1.78% annual increase.
The 2024-25 budget maintains jobs and services, while also introducing additional courses for our students, such as Corporate and Management Accounting at the high school level and Accelerated Math in sixth grade.

2023-24 Budget Overview
2023-24 Budget at a Glance
Total budget: $25,284,083
Increase from 2022-23: 8.32 percent
Tax levy increase: 1.64 percent
Highlights:
While developing the budget, district leaders focused on maintaining and enhancing programs, maintaining jobs, and ensuring the district will be fiscally solvent in the future, while ensuring the budget does not exceed the allowable tax cap.
The proposed budget would allow the district to retain three academic intervention services teachers for each level to help students who still may be struggling with coming back from the pandemic, secure additional counseling services for our students, add a part-time music teacher to enhance music and technology electives, and continue a full-time English as a New Language teacher to help students who speak another language other than English.

Increase from 2020-21: 0.93 percent
Tax levy increase: 2.94 percent
Highlights: The budget maintains current staffing
levels while also allowing for an increase in
job opportunities. A new guidance counselor
position (funded through the Federal
Stimulus Funds), three-hour middle school
monitor, and district-wide technology aide are
included in the proposition.
American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA)
The Canajoharie Central School District in collaboration with the Board of Education, Faculty, Staff, Administration and Community, have developed the plan for the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) stimulus funds that were awarded to the district for the next three years.
