This year East Hill will be participating in a new reading event called “One Book, One School”. Every student K-5 will receive a copy of the same book- Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White. Activities will also be provided to complete while reading the book.
The purpose of participating in this event is to build a community of readers through a shared reading experience. Studies have shown that reading to children helps them to listen better and longer, build vocabulary, and feel positive about both books and learning. When an entire school reads together it creates excitement about the book and builds community in the school family.
Here’s how this works:
- You and your child will receive a book and activities that go along with the book.
- Chapters are assigned on the calendar provided. It is important to follow the calendar so we can stay together.
- There will be a Charlotte’s Web Google Classroom that will provide you with information that relates to the book.
- Teachers may also include some activities on their Google Classrooms.
Books will be available on Thursday, April 23rd and Friday, April 24th from 8:00am-1:00pm at East Hill Main office or by bus on Friday. If you have a bus stop and have not picked up your book, please be out in front of your house on Friday from 8am-9am!
