Good Evening East Hill Families;
I hope this letter finds each of you in good health and spirits. It is hard to believe that 10 weeks of school are already behind us. As we begin the second quarter, I wanted to take a few minutes to reach out with a handful of updates and reminders.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
On Thursday, November 19, 2020, there will be no school for elementary students for parent/teacher conferences. Please contact the East Hill office or your child’s grade level teacher(s) for an appointment.
Attendance
The school day starts at 8:40 a.m. for both in-person and remote students. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of regular attendance for both in-person and hybrid students.
Students who are participating in remote instruction should have their cameras ON at all times during class.
Please contact the East Hill Office at 518-673-6310 if your child is going to be absent, late, or dismissing early. This same practice should be followed if your child is engaged in remote instruction.
Technology
The school issued Chromebooks should be used for all virtual instruction. Devices should be charged nightly. Please do not allow your child to bring their charging cord to school.
If a student is experiencing a hardware problem (sound, camera, microphone, screen), please email techsupport@canjo.org for assistance.
If a student is experiencing an instructional problem (can’t get into Google Classroom, Google Meet, etc..), please notify the classroom teacher via email.
Don’t forget to visit the District Technology Integration website for student and family tutorials on SchoolTool and Google Classroom.
Health & Safety
Facemasks are to be worn at all times per the Canajoharie Central School District Re-Opening Plan. Failure to follow this expectation can/will result in “Remote Only” instruction for offenders. Exception(s) to this rule are as follows:
- When seated (and socially distanced) during lunch for the purpose of eating.
- When students/teachers can practice social distancing and specific permission is given by the teacher.
Water fountains have been turned off, but each building has a ‘bottle fill’ station. Please encourage your child to bring a water bottle to school with them.
As always, I appreciate your support, flexibility, and understanding during this unprecedented situation. Please do not hesitate to reach out to the East Hill Office (518) 673-6310 or by emailing me directly at alicia.dambrosio@canjo.org with any questions or concerns.
Alicia D’Ambrosio
