Student athlete signs letter of intent to swim at Le Moyne College

Canajoharie High School senior Joe Trembley signed a letter of intent on Thursday, April 12 to swim at Le Moyne College in Syracuse this fall. Trembley’s achievements and talents in the pool took him to states this year, and he was named a Section II all-star.

Trembley, the son of Steve and Shannon Trembley, will accept a partial athletic scholarship to swim at Le Moyne. The college’s swim team is a competitive NCAA Division II program. Trembley will major in the college’s highly regarded accounting program.

“Joe has been a true competitor and a true teammate over the five years he swam for Canajoharie-Fort Plain,” Coach Phil Horender said. “He was the most consistent swimmer and points scorer on our team during this time. We applaud him for all of his achievements and wish him the best of luck at Le Moyne.” 

Highlights of Trembley’s swimming career include:

  • Five year varsity swimmer

  • Two year captain

  • Two year NYS State Championship qualifier

  • Section II Sportsmanship Award Winner at States, as voted on by the section’s coaches

  • Holds the Canajoharie school record in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 48.32
    Section II, Class ‘BCD’ 1st Team All-Star (2018)

  • First place in the 50 yard freestyle at Sectionals (2018)

  • Second place in the 100 yard freestyle at Sectionals (2018)

  • Anchored the 200 free relay team that placed second at Sectionals (2018)

  • Anchored the 400 free relay team that placed third at Sectionals (2018)
