Voters approve 2021-22 Canajoharie school budget; elect one board member

On May 18, Canajoharie Central School District voters approved the district’s $23,125,725 budget for 2021-22 with 180 yes votes to 36 no votes, and elected one Board of Education member. They also voted for a school bus proposition (192 yes and 24 no) and voted to establish a capital bus reserve fund (187 yes and 28 no) and equipment reserve fund (186 yes and 30 no).
Voters also elected one candidate for one open Board of Education seat:

  • Patricia Prime, 166 votes – elected
  • David Nightingale Sr. 37 votes

“We want to thank all of our community members who came out and voted today. Their continual support allows Canajoharie to offer its students outstanding educational programs in great facilities,” said Superintendent Dr. Nick Fitzgerald.

“We’re also very proud to say that this budget does not raise property taxes.”

The passed budget represents a spending increase of 2.28 percent from the current operating plan.
