District voters approved the $26,060,135 Canajoharie Central School District budget for the 2025-26 school year on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, by a vote of 145 to 59. This budget represents a spending increase of 2.58% and carries a 1.53% property tax levy increase.

“We sincerely thank our community for participating in today’s vote,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Nick Fitzgerald. “Your continued support reflects a profound belief in the power of education and the bright future we are building together for our students.”

Residents approved the $14 million capital project on the ballot, by a vote of 130 to 71.
The project will allow the district to modernize the East Hill Complex heating and cooling systems. Due to a $1.4 million grant from The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, this project would have zero impact on taxpayers. The project would update outdated equipment and address the lack of cooling at the elementary and middle schools.

Voters also approved a bus lease proposition by a vote of 160 to 43. They also authorized using the previously established equipment reserve fund to purchase classroom furniture, not exceeding $170,000, by a vote of 150 to 51, and the establishment of a $500,000 equipment reserve for facilities equipment, technology, vehicles and classroom equipment, for a cost not to exceed $500,000 with a vote of 152 to 51

Incumbent Mark Brody was elected to the district’s board of education to a five-year term running from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2029. He was running unopposed.
