District voters approved the $26,145,135 Canajoharie Central School District budget for the 2026-27 school year on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, by a vote of 145-77. This budget represents a spending increase of 2.58% and carries a 1.53% property tax levy increase. 

“We wish to thank our community members for their participation in today’s vote,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Nick Fitzgerald said. “Your continued support highlights a deep commitment to education and to the promising future we are shaping together for our students.”

Also on the ballot

Residents approved a $400,000 capital project extension for the carbon reduction project by a vote of 134-79. District officials said there is no cost to taxpayers, as the district secured a $1.4 million loan from The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority to cover costs that are not eligible for state aid. 

Voters also approved a bus lease proposition by a vote of 165-57. They also authorized using the previously established Equipment Reserve fund to purchase classroom furniture, not exceeding $170,000 by a vote of 162-60.

Incumbent Patricia Prime was elected to the district’s board of education to a five-year term running from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2031. She was running unopposed.
